Madison, Wisc. — Michael Graf, owner/director of commercial production company Spot FilmWorks Ltd, was elected Monday onto the Board of Directors of IFP/Chicago (Independent Feature Project) for a third consecutive year.
“It is a thrill to have the opportunity to play an active role in an organization that facilitates, supports, and nurtures the art of filmmaking and the independent filmmaker like IFP/Chicago,” Graf said. “It is also a pleasure to represent Wisconsin to filmmakers as our new state tax incentives are starting to generate interest in the film and television industry.”
Independent Feature Project/Chicago is a not-for-profit membership and advocacy organization that serves the Midwest independent film community by connecting creative talent and the film industry. IFP/Chicago facilitates programs that provide invaluable information, resources, networking and support to filmmakers while promoting film as a vital and influential public art form.
Graf joined IFP/Chicago in 2003, nearly a decade after moving to Madison and directing regional/national television commercials through his commercial production company, Spot Filmworks Ltd. Since Graf started Spot Filmworks Ltd, his commercial work has gone on to win numerous honors including Best of Show at the International Summit Awards, a Silver World Medal at the New York International Film Festival, several Addy Awards, and over 50 national Telly Awards.
“Not everyone thinks of the Midwest as a leader in filmmaking and production,” Graf notes. “But the Midwest harbors unbelievable talent both in front of and behind the camera. Through opportunities provided by outlets such as IFP/Chicago, I hope that these local talents are encouraged to develop and grow the creative economy of Wisconsin and the Midwest.”
