Graphic Communications Veteran Leads IGI

Ron Dahl is new Executive Director for the Institute for Graphics and Imaging


PEWAUKEE, Wis., June 18 /PRNewswire/ — Ron Dahl, Ph.D., a veteran of more than 30 years in graphic communications, is the new Executive Director of the Institute for Graphics and Imaging (IGI).


Based at the Harry V. Quadracci Printing Education and Technology Center on the campus of the Waukesha County Technical College campus in Pewaukee, Wis., the IGI is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of the printing, publishing and graphic design industries. As executive director, Dr. Dahl oversees the IGI’s advanced workshops and seminars, custom training program development, bookstore/publishing services and exhibition facilities.


“The Institute for Graphics and Imaging plays a central role in supporting the printers, publishers and graphic designers through training, research and development to help keep the industry healthy and competitive, and I am excited to lead those efforts,” Dr. Dahl said.

About Ron Dahl


One of the nation’s leading color experts, Dr. Dahl has enjoyed a long career as a color educator, trainer and consultant. A native of North Dakota, he holds B.S and M.S. degrees in graphic communications from the University of North Dakota as well as a Ph.D. in graphic communications from Iowa State University. As a university professor, he taught graphic communications for more than 20 years, including stints at Northwest Missouri State University and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and 10 years as a tenured professor at Arizona State University.


After leaving academia, he served as director of technical training for IKON Office Solutions, Inc., and founded his own company, Digital Color Source, Inc., a color management consulting and software distribution business based in Higley, AZ. Most recently, he served as vice president of sales for ColorSciences LLC, an innovative color control technologies company based in Austin, Texas.


Today Dr. Dahl and his wife, Deb, live in Pewaukee, Wis., not far from the WCTC campus. They have one son, Nikolai, a pharmacy student at the University of California, San Francisco.
