“Discover Mediaworks has always set a high standard of excellence in using technology and top media production and professionals to tell the stories of our communities and our clients,” says Mark Rose, president and chief executive officer of the company. “Stephanie and Greg have long helped us exceed our goals in every aspect of Discover Wisconsin and we’re proud to announce their promotions to leadership of Discover Wisconsin Media Network.”
Stephanie Klett is one of Wisconsin’s best-known faces and most-admired broadcast professionals – she has served as the host of Discover Wisconsin since 1993 and is also the researcher, writer, producer and host of Discover Wisconsin Radio. She is the public relations manager for Discover Wisconsin and is a weekly guest on WITI-TV’s Fox-6 Wake-Up News Show in Milwaukee. Her work has been honored with five Emmy nominations, a National Telly Award for writing, a Cameo Award for producing, and a Communicator Award for on-camera hosting.
Klett’s new Managing Director responsibilities with Discover Wisconsin Media Network include overseeing on-location filming, working with clients on media promotion, developing radio content with community partners, performing host duties for Discover Wisconsin America’s Dairyland – a partnership with the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board – and seasonal Travel Channel specials. “After 15 years with Discover Wisconsin, it’s more exciting than ever to go to work,” she says.
Klett’s duties also include trade show promotions, public speaking engagements, promotional spots, network and affiliate building, premiere screenings, and special events. “My job is to do everything possible to promote our communities and partners with everything they offer,” she explains.
Greg Smith is a Discover Mediaworks veteran who has worked with the company and Discover Wisconsin for more than 10 years, most recently as Director of Content for that show and for the seven weeks of national television programming that Discover Mediaworks produces for the Travel Channel. With a total of 23 years of experience in marketing – including stints in radio and television – Smith works with featured communities, attractions, destinations and restaurants throughout Wisconsin to help them tell their best stories on the air. His executive responsibilities for Discover Wisconsin Media Network will include developing multiyear partnerships with Wisconsin destinations, attractions and events, and promoting them both regionally and nationally.
“Wisconsin is such a great, special state, and we have so many original and enjoyable things to do and see here,” Smith says. “Where we’re taking the show in terms of online is very exciting, too, and it ties in with Wisconsin’s cutting-edge tourism industry.”
In addition to Discover Wisconsin programming, Discover Mediaworks develops and produces a variety of high-quality television and radio series, commercials, and corporate productions, including American Snowmobiler TV, ATV Illustrated Television, and the company’s Emmy Award-winning children’s program, Into the Outdoors.
The first televised episode of Discover Wisconsin aired in 1988. Discover Wisconsin Radio has been broadcast since 1993. DiscoverWisconsin.com launched in 2002.
