Wisconsin Optimists: Wisconsin Optimist District Recognized Internationally For Their Efforts

Wausau, WI – August 24, 2007- The WINUM (WI North-Upper MI) Optimist District continues to be an active proponent of child safety through their continued use and promotion of the SafeAssured family safety program, in addition to numerous other projects that benefit children.  Ken Hofmaster, President of SafeAssured, publicly recognized the WINUM District at the annual Optimist International Convention in Montreal, Quebec by presenting them with an award for their efforts.  Romey Wagner, current Governor from Wausau, and Terry Weber, Governor-elect from Chilton, accepted the award on behalf of the clubs in their WINUM District.  Almost 20 Optimist Clubs in the WINUM district have participated in the SafeAssured program by providing thousands of the high-tech digital IDs at community events, schools, and other locations throughout their district.  The Wausau Area Optimists recently launched an annual project that made free SafeAssured IDs available to all first graders in their county.  (Siblings and other students could purchase the IDs at a nominal cost.)

The SafeAssured Solution provides families with an added sense of security and peace of mind. The ID kits provide families with the power to immediately deliver comprehensive and ready-to-broadcast information unique to the missing person to media outlets and law enforcement agencies. In addition to common program benefits such as a digital photo and personal information profile, SafeAssured’s kit also includes: 10 digital fingerprints, voice recording clip, and streaming video demonstrating unique mannerisms and movement.  Private information is securely stored on an encrypted mini-CD ROM, accessible only to authorized law enforcement officials.  The mini-CD allows the user to make missing person posters with a high-quality image.  Families also receive a full-color photo data card and a preventative safety tips guidebook, written in conjunction with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).   Personal information is stored only on the mini-CD, not in a database, to prevent unauthorized access to the information.
