A six-story building, estimated to be worth $12 million, will be built by Logistics Health Inc. if the La Crosse Common Council approves a plan released Tuesday night.

The building would be built on the Mississippi River waterfront, near an LHI headquarters that was finished last year. Council approval is expected.

LHI officials estimate the new building will lead to 50 new jobs for the next five years for a total of 250. Construction could start this summer, with completion in 2008.

According to the 32-page report presented to the Council, the City of La Crosse would sell the land to Riverside Center LLC, owned by LHI CEO Don Weber, for $1 if the value of the building is at least $8 million. The city also will provide 500 parking spaces for LHI employees.

Weber also would receive an option to build a third building in the future.
