WHAT:        Sonic Foundry will co-host a press conference with Lt. Gov.
Barbara Lawton Thursday, October 11 to raise awareness for
                National Depression Screening Day.

Lt. Gov. Lawton launched a statewide initiative to encourage
every Wisconsin business to participate in National
Depression Screening Day by providing employees access to a
free online screening. The Lt. Governor is traveling the
state this week to elevate public attention to the efforts
                of participating businesses and organizations.

Untreated depression has far-reaching implications for
business. Medical costs of depressed persons are higher,
depressed individuals are more likely to be unemployed or
underemployed and depression affects the economy in lost
                work productivity.

Leading the statewide effort, Sonic Foundry hopes its
involvement will emphasize the impact depression can have on
employee productivity, workplace wellness and the state’s
economic outlook. The company will provide online access to
the free, private depression screening during the event. The
brief survey takes only minutes to complete and at the end
of the screening, individuals are provided immediate
feedback as to indicators for depression and options finding
for help. The survey is also available to the public at
