Secretary Gassman to Present Wisconsin Forward Awards

Madison – On behalf of Governor Jim Doyle, Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman will present the 2006 Governor’s Wisconsin Forward Awards Wednesday, February 7. Fourteen organizations will be recognized, four of them receiving the highest honor, the Governor’s Award of Excellence, during the ceremony, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Overture Center for the Arts.


As a member of Governor Doyle’s cabinet, Secretary Gassman leads the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and oversees 1,900 employees charged with strengthening Wisconsin’s workforce. With a budget of more than $2 billion, DWD provides training and employment assistance to job seekers, enforces worker’s rights, administers Unemployment Insurance, Apprenticeship, and Worker’s Compensation and works with employers to fill jobs.
