PSC Authorizes $3.3 Million Credit for Alliant Energy Customers

MADISON – The state Public Service Commission today approved a $3.3 million refund for Alliant Energy customers to reflect lower fuel costs to produce electricity.

A PSC spokeswoman said the credit is due primarily to moderating natural gas prices.

“In past rate cases, the Commission has taken action to ensure Wisconsin ratepayers receive benefit from the moderation of fuel costs,” PSC chairman Dan Ebert said.

“The credits authorized today are a signal to customers that the Commission remains diligent in providing rate relief for utility customers.”

The credit means an average residential customer, using 700 kWh per month, can expect to see a refund of about $2.50 on an upcoming bill.

A written order which will detail the decision will be issued at a later date.
