Report Finds That PCI Requirements Drive Better Protection of All Sensitive Business Data

MILWAUKEE–(BUSINESS WIRE)–PKWARE, the leading provider of enterprise solutions for secure and efficient data transfer and storage, today announced the availability of a research report that it developed with Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company. The report on “Protecting Cardholder Data” provides new insights into the degree to which Best-in-Class organizations have addressed the 12 high-level security requirements of the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS), and the motivations and obstacles to achieving PCI compliance over the past 12 months. The report is available immediately at the link listed below.

“Best-in-Class organizations tend to view PCI DSS as an opportunity, not as merely an obligation,” said Derek E. Brink, Vice President and Research Director for IT Security, Aberdeen Harte-Hanks. “More than 2 out of 3 view PCI DSS as the best available framework to guide their implementations. In addition, about half see an opportunity to leverage cardholder data security achieved through PCI DSS compliance to drive better protection of other sensitive business data, and to address compliance with other standards and regulations.”

Tim Kennedy, President and COO for PKWARE added, “PCI DSS regulations affect any company conducting online transactions and storing payment card information. It is critical that these organizations consider the steps for achieving PCI DSS compliance when developing their overall network and data security strategy. Built on the renowned ZIP platform, PKWARE’s data-centric encryption solutions enable enterprises to protect cardholder data while in transit, at rest and even when being processed.”
