3.0 Gold version enhancements encompass tools, overlay, database management and media burning

The eFilm Workstation 3.0 Gold version — available as an update for existing eFilm Workstation customers — presents a number of improvements designed to enhance annotation overlay and database capacity and to expand media burning and viewing options:

  — New overlay features to refine the appearance and detail of annotated
images. Includes font management on display and print, font size
annotations on printed films and customized handling of Mammo Markers.
— New SQL Express database, featuring 4 gigabyte capacity, four times
higher than in previous versions.
— Media burning improvements, including the ability to write to CD or
DVD, an updated media burning toolkit, more supported devices and the
capability to include additional non-DICOM files on media.
— A thumbnail panel — which provides access to all related
studies — that can be “floating” or “docked” to any side.
— Spine labeling, with pre-defined annotations.
— Enhanced user configurability to handle multi-frame images.

3.0 Platinum version features Hanging Protocols, Hanging Protocol Builder

eFilm Workstation 3.0 Platinum — available as an upgrade for existing eFilm Workstation customers and as standalone software for new customers — matches all of the Gold version’s capabilities and adds the following features:

  — Hanging Protocols that enable automatic specification of order and
location of images to facilitate efficient review.
— A Hanging Protocol Builder, with support for relevant priors, that
enables customization of hanging protocols per user preferences.
— Key Images, with support for Edit/Delete, that permits rapid viewing of
the most relevant images.
— Visualization Services available for both server-based and standalone
options.
— A new tool for determining Cardiothoracic Ratio (CTR), which is useful
to determine whether cardiac diameter is within a normal range.

“Continuous innovation of this practical workstation is evident in every new eFilm Workstation release,” said Beth Frost-Johnson, Merge Healthcare’s Senior Vice President, Marketing. “Our customers have indicated their desire for Hanging Protocols and enhanced visualization tools, and we are pleased to deliver these capabilities to them.”

With its expansive range of tools, including window/level presets, synchronized stacking, MPR reference lines, cine function and integrated CD burning — in addition to advanced capabilities such as volume rendering and MPR creation — eFilm Workstation supports the daily workflow of any imaging environment. With over 70,000 downloads and 20,000 licensed users worldwide, eFilm Workstation provides optimal workflow for clinical reading, featuring the capability to split a series into appropriate sub-series, automatic timed user interface locking for added security and customizable toolbar and mouse functionality. In addition to being among the easiest to use DICOM viewers, eFilm Workstation also can be utilized as a back-up viewer during disaster recovery if an existing PACS goes off-line.
