LifeCare Holdings, Inc. Opens Wisconsin Hospital

PLANO, Texas, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ — LifeCare Holdings, Inc. has opened a new 65,000-square-foot hospital in Waukesha, Wisc., approximately 25 miles from downtown Milwaukee.


The long-term acute care hospital, called LifeCare Hospitals of Wisconsin, will begin receiving patients later this month. The 62-bed, freestanding facility specializes in the treatment of medically complex patients who require acute care hospital services for an extended period of time, generally more than 25 days.


The hospital is located on a 40-acre parcel of land adjacent to GE Healthcare’s World Headquarters. The hospital is outfitted with GE medical equipment and offers some of the most advanced treatments and technologies available.


LifeCare, based in Plano, Texas, operates 19 long-term acute care hospitals located in nine states. Long term acute care hospitals specialize in the treatment of medically complex patients who typically require extended hospitalization.
