Hilton Madison Monona Terrace Hotel Voted Best Hotel in Business and Leisure Categories by Madison Magazine Readers

MILWAUKEE, June 28 /PRNewswire/ — Marcus Hotels and Resorts, a division of The Marcus Corporation, today announced that its Hilton Madison Monona Terrace Hotel has been voted the top hotel in two categories-Best Hotel for Business and Best Hotel for Leisure-by the readers of Madison Magazine. The publication’s 90,000 readers and 100,000 unique monthly Web site visitors were asked to vote for “the best of” in more than 200 categories, ranging from hotels to delis.

“What makes this honor especially rewarding is that we are a relative newcomer to Madison, opening only six years ago,” said Bill Otto, president Marcus Hotels and Resorts. “General Manager Bob Caston and his team have worked hard to become an integral part of the community.”

“With its unique ambiance, style and location, the hotel has had the good fortune to become a hub of all activity around the capital, hosting all walks of life, from celebrities to legislatures,” Caston said. “More than half of guests visit our hotel to attend meetings or for other business purposes. We also host a large number of major social events and fund raisers. Wedding parties and other family functions, such as family reunions, bar mitzvahs and bat mitzvahs also are a major component of our guest base. We also maintain a close relationship with the University of Wisconsin, handling multiple alumnae events, athletic teams and other activities.”

Caston noted that although the hotel is the newest full-service, upscale hotel in Madison, the property continuously looks for ways to upgrade its facilities and services. “Recently we added outdoor patio seating at our popular Capital Chop House, which has been very well received,” he said. “We’ve seen a steady increase in lunchtime attendance since we added the new seating, compared to last year.”

Only two blocks from the Wisconsin state capital, the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace hotel is located in the heart of downtown Madison, overlooking Lake Monona. The property is in close proximity to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Henry Vilas Zoo, Overture Theater District, State Street and many downtown Madison, Wisconsin upscale restaurants and clubs.

The hotel has direct access to the adjacent Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center via an enclosed, climate- controlled skywalk and offers complimentary airport shuttle service to and from the Dane County Regional Airport. The property offers 1,400 square feet of meeting space and can accommodate functions for as many as 80 people.

The hotel’s Capitol Chop House is the city’s premier spot for steak and seafood, serving lunch and dinner. The Hilton Madison Monona Terrace hotel’s “Olive” offers a full breakfast seven days a week, plus a Starbucks Coffee station. The Hilton Madison Monona Terrace hotel features live music six days a week and is a popular venue for downtown hotel guests and local Madisonians. Recreational amenities include an indoor swimming pool and fully equipped exercise facility.
