Green Bay Named as a Top City for Families

Kiplinger’s Praises City’s Creativity, Innovation

GREEN BAY, May 22, 2007–Green Bay was named one of the best cities in the country in which to live for married couples with children in the June issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.

Green Bay was chosen because of a strong “creative class,” which Kiplinger’s defined as “scientists, engineers, architects, educators, writers, artists, and entertainers,” high levels of innovation in the community, and per-capita income growth.

“Green Bay is a great city in which to raise a family,” said Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt.  “There’s no question it’s one of the best places to live, play, earn, and learn in the country, and it’s rewarding to see Green Bay receive the recognition it deserves.”

Kiplinger’s chose the best five cities of various sizes for people in different stages of life: Young Singles, Mid-level Professionals, Married with Kids, Empty-Nesters, and Retirees.

Green Bay was also recently named one of the Top 25 Best Affordable Suburbs by BusinessWeek magazine.

“Green Bay is just one example of the excellent communities we have in Northeast Wisconsin,” said Jerry Murphy, Executive Director of the New North, Inc.  “Whether you’re single or married, with kids or without kids, the New North offers something for everyone.”
