Fiskars Scissors – Safe as Always!

MADISON, Wis., Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ — Fiskars announces that they are removing the Prop 65 warning label from all kids’ scissors and school tools. Analysis has proven that the products are safe and do not require the warning on the back of the packaging.

According to Chad Vincent, President of Fiskars Craft Division, “We are a very conservative company, and Prop 65 has a list of over 750 chemicals, so we placed the warning, needed or not, on all items until we could confirm our compliance as required by California law — Proposition 65. Fiskars has thousands of products, and we wanted to be extremely cautious and thorough. Our review has indicated that the products are completely safe and always have been.”

The kids’ scissors packaging Fiskars is printing now and going forward no longer carries the Prop 65 warning, as it has been confirmed that the products are safe and in compliance with all laws and regulations, including California Prop 65.

“As always, Fiskars kids’ products are safe, high quality items, and our brand is still the one trusted by parents and teachers,” says Suzanne Fanning, Sr. Manager of Public Relations for Fiskars. “Consumers can continue to have faith in our company and our commitment to safety.”

Official Company Statement Regarding Prop 65

The Prop 65 warning label is being removed from the Fiskars kid scissors and school tools packaging. We have reviewed the material data used in these products and found that none present a risk of exposure requiring the Prop 65 warning. However, until all of our packaging is replaced with the newer updated version, some of our products in the stores currently include the warning labels due to this review process. These products are safe and do not require the warning.

Fiskars Brands applied this label as a precaution only until we had a chance to review the material used in these products. Fiskars realizes that this strategy may create questions and concerns by our consumers and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Fiskars believes in providing customers safe, effective products and will always comply with state and federal regulations. Thank you for choosing Fiskars.
