Cupid’s Arrow Strikes Hearts With Video Valentine Webcasts for Active Fort Dix Troops and Families

MADISON, Wis., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Sonic Foundry(R) Inc. (NASDAQ:SOFO) , a leader in automated rich media communications technology, today announced that family members and friends of troops stationed overseas captured Valentine’s Day greetings via Sonic Foundry’s rich media web communications system, Mediasite(R).

Sonic Foundry provided the Mediasite system and technical staff to the Fort Dix Family Support Center to webcast the video valentines to their loved ones abroad. In addition to the video and audio message, the families who attended the event also had the opportunity to create special Valentine’s Day arts and crafts to share with their loved ones utilizing a document camera attached to the Mediasite system.

“There was nothing like Mediasite as a tool for communicating with your loved ones when I was a Navy wife,” said Mildred Guzman, mother-in-law of SPC Michael Rosado who is stationed overseas. “I believe all military bases should have one.”

Mediasite is a transformational communications medium used to deliver critical information and share knowledge, connecting people around the globe. The Mediasite system automates the capture, management and delivery of multimedia presentations (combining audio, video and accompanying graphics) for live or on-demand viewing via the web.

“This Valentine’s Day, we are proud to partner with Fort Dix to connect loved ones with their troops stationed overseas through Mediasite video valentines,” said Darrin Coulson, Chief Operating Officer of Sonic Foundry. “It is an honor to make our technology available to record and instantly send these personalized messages to their loved ones, even though they are worlds apart, in an effort to recognize the on-going dedication and service of these families.”
