Who: Kevin Henkes, recipient of the 2005 Randolph Caldecott Medal for
“Kitten’s First Full Moon,” is the creator of several picture
books featuring his mouse characters including “Lilly’s Big Day,”
the #1 New York Times bestseller “Wemberly Worried,” the
Caldecott Honor Book “Owen,” and the beloved “Lilly’s Purple
Plastic Purse.” Henkes, who lives in Madison, Wis., has also
produced novels for older children including the Newbery Honor
