(December 20, 2007, New Berlin—) The customer service program of Batzner Pest Management, New Berlin, has been recognized in the current issue of Pest Control Technology, an industry magazine with a readership throughout the USA.

The 61-year-old pest control company, with service centers in New Berlin, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Racine and Madison, won PCT’s “Best-in-Class” Customer Service Award.

According to Batzner, his third generation, family-owned business has grown its sales in 2007 by 16 percent. “We employ approximately 75 people and strive for good employee morale here, which, in turn, makes our people more willing to provide excellent customer service,” he says.

His company’s customer service awareness and morale-boosting efforts lead to not only happier and more productive employees, but to ones who are more apt to provide excellent service, which in turn brings in more and better business, he maintains.

Batzner notes that his company’s retention rates for customers and employees both are above 90 percent.

The PCT article cited Batzner’s annual Madagascar Hissing Cockroach race as an effective morale-booster, as is an incentive program he initiated that encourages employees to go above and beyond good customer service. That program has the employees giving each other points in recognition of great customer service. At the end of each month, Batzner employees can redeem points for gift cards to local restaurants, gas stations and stores.

The company also surveys its customers randomly each month and responses are posted on a bulletin board in the office.
