“2006 was a very solid year for Alliant Energy,” said Harvey. “It was a year in which we continued to improve our financial profile.” Harvey added, “We not only made strides with regards to our financial performance, but also our operating performance, evidenced by an improved safety record.”

In addition to reflecting on the company’s financial success, Harvey discussed the extraordinary winter ice and snow storms which left hundreds of thousands of Alliant Energy customers without electricity. “The response of our employees, citizens, and government agencies in Iowa and Minnesota was nothing short of heroic. We are extremely proud of our employees’ efforts to restore power and appreciate the patience shown by our customers during the restoration efforts,” said Harvey. Initial restoration efforts were completed in early March however, due to the extensive damage to the system, permanent repairs will continue through the end of 2007.

Harvey also discussed the company’s plans to add additional generating facilities in Cassville, Wisconsin, and Marshalltown, Iowa, as well as new wind power in Iowa and Wisconsin. “We believe our plan – new clean coal power plants, and expanded wind power — demonstrates our dedication to providing environmentally responsible energy for the next generation and fulfilling our responsibility to the economic health of the communities we serve,” said Harvey.
