Viewers praise station’s “Top notch” coverage featuring ESP:LIVE™

[March 14, 2006] Kansas City, Mo. – Weather Central Inc., provider of state-of-the-art broadcast weather solutions announced that KSHB-TV in Kansas City, Mo. used the ESP:LIVE system during the tornado outbreak in Kansas and Missouri on Sunday, March 12, 2006 with outstanding results. Storms began to form early Sunday morning and lasted throughout the day while moving through Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. At least ten people were confirmed dead as a result of these storms, and there were 116 preliminary reports of tornadoes. As the storms moved through the viewing area, KSHB chief meteorologist Gary Lezak provided extended live coverage using the system, branded “ESP, Earliest Storm Protection.”

“ESP proved to be the perfect tool for our continuous coverage Sunday,” said Lezak, “We used the exclusive 3D X-Vision tool to slice through the storms, and it lined up perfectly with the location of the actual tornadoes. We received great feedback from our viewers via email and on our online weather blog site.”

Viewer comments cited KSHB coverage as “Top notch… ESP really seems to make a difference,” and “Very well presented, descriptive weather.” Another blogger encouraged the station to “Break into programming and show off that ESP!”

“ESP:LIVE provides television stations with the ultimate combination of tools during severe weather,” said Jim Cikanek, ESP:LIVE product manager for Weather Central. “Our exclusive storm tracking and prediction algorithms drive dynamic graphics, allowing our client stations to deliver useful information to viewers earlier, and with more clarity than ever before.”
