UW-Stevens Point: Employee Healthcare Discussion Offered

The state of healthcare and the influence employees have on their healthcare benefits will be the topic of a listening session held by conference call on Wednesday, May 10.

Held from noon to 1 p.m., the call is being hosted by the Small Business and Development Center at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in partnership with Mortenson, Matzelle & Meldrum, Inc. (M3).

The discussion will center on the history of employee healthcare benefits, employer-driven trends that are influencing the healthcare landscape and the effects of consumerism.

The presenter will be Vickie Thoreson, who has worked in employee benefits for almost 20 years. An account executive in the Employee Benefits Division of M3 for the last four years, she previously was a regional sales manager for Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin and Division Manager for Church Mutual Insurance Company.

She is an active member of the National Association of Health Underwriters, the Wisconsin Association of Health Underwriters and the Central Wisconsin chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. She also serves as a member of the Wausau Chamber of Commerce and the Portage Business Council.
