STC Four Lakes Chapter: Society for Technical Communication – Four Lakes Chapter’s New Web Site a Valuable Resource for any Communications Professional

Madison, WI – January 26, 2006 —
Keith Hoffman, President of the Society for Technical Communication – Four Lakes Chapter, is pleased to announce the launch of his organization’s new website (www.stc.ims.net) designed to help Communications Professionals in the Madison area improve their job skills and network with peers.

“There is a growing community of Technical Communicators in the Madison area,” says Hoffman, “and the Four Lakes Chapter of the STC is their gateway to local support and resources.”

Technical communicators work in many different industries, so the specifics of their jobs vary a great deal. One professional may be writing a user’s manual for a new software package; another may be helping a surgeon prepare a research paper for publication. Anyone whose work makes technical information available to those who need it can benefit from what the Society for Technical Communication has to offer. “As technology becomes more and more a part of our daily lives, there will be an ever-increasing demand for people who can explain this technology in a way that enables people to use it,” says Hoffman, “and we can help communication professionals develop the skills they need to make this happen.”

Resources found on the web site include a local job board, links to discussion lists, and access to local networking and educational events. Society membership provides opportunities for ongoing learning and professional networking. Through the efforts of a small, full-time staff at the national level, and a large network of volunteers, STC promotes the public welfare by educating its members and industry about issues concerning technical communication.
