Sentry Insurance Expanding in Fox Valley

Sentry Insurance has announced plans to expand its information technology operations by opening an office in the Fox Valley. Company officials are in the process of recruiting for open positions and negotiating a lease for an area office that would be occupied in early 2007.

“The Fox Valley is an ideal location for Sentry Insurance to expand our information technology operations. There is a rich pool of talent in the area, and with the U.S. Highway 10 improvements, it’s now just under an hour’s drive to our headquarters in Stevens Point,” said Jim Stitzlein, Sentry Insurance Senior Vice President–Operational Services.

Sentry Insurance is one of the largest insurance companies in Wisconsin. The company employs more than 2,700 in the state, with major offices in Stevens Point and Madison. Sentry and its subsidiaries provide property and casualty insurance, life insurance, annuities and retirement programs for businesses and individuals throughout the United States.

“Adding information technology jobs reinforces Sentry’s commitment to our customers, our employees and the state of Wisconsin,” said Mr. Stitzlein. “We believe that we can best serve our customers through dedicated employees rather than outsourcing.”

Positions for which Sentry Insurance is currently hiring include JAVA, Microsoft.Net and mainframe application developers, data warehousing professionals, network engineers, system engineers, project managers, database administrators and technical architects.

“Sentry plans to initially hire at least 30 information technology professionals, and expects to add more technology positions in upcoming months,” said Greg Pfluger, Sentry’s Vice President–Information Technology.

Interested individuals can attend an open house December 20 from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the Best Western Bridgewood Resort Hotel in Neenah. For more information, or to make an appointment with a career counselor, go to www.sentryrecruiting.com or call 1-800-628-3547, extension 6954.
