New North Region Gains Almost $10 Million of Investment Capital

APPLETON – A new venture capital fund was launched today that will focus on early-stage companies located in and around the New North.

NEW Capital Fund, LP, one of the first venture capital funds in Northeast Wisconsin, is a private equity limited partnership with nearly $10 million of committed capital from 75 investors, most of whom live and work in the New North.

“For those of us who live in the New North, we have no doubt about the potential that exists in our region,” said Charlie Goff, the fund’s general partner. “We’re excited to have the capital that will allow us to set in motion great ideas that innovators from our region have come up with.”

Goff said NEW Capital Fund, LP plans to invest in 10 to12 new or existing companies within the next five years.

Investment decisions will be made by a five-member investment board and the day-to-day operations of the fund will be managed by its General Partner, NEW Capital Management, Inc. The organization provides the structure to aggregate money, knowledge, and experience of the limited partners, helping to mitigate investment risk and strengthening the probability of investment success.

The fund will target companies that have the potential for rapid growth and can be certified as qualified businesses under Wisconsin’s Act 255. NEW Capital Fund, LP is one of the first organizations in the state to be certified as a Qualified Venture Fund under Wisconsin’s Act 255. This allows investors to receive state income tax credits for equity investments in qualified new business ventures
