Milwaukee Bar Association: Establishes Award In Honor Of District Attorney E. Michael McCann

MILWAUKEE, WI – April 20, 2006 – The Milwaukee Bar Association (MBA) is pleased to announce the establishment of the E. Michael McCann Distinguished Public Service Award. The award will be presented this year and in the future to an attorney or group that exemplifies outstanding public service.

“Too often the work of lawyers in public service or in public interest positions goes unnoticed or unappreciated. For the past 38 years, Mike McCann has set the highest standard and example for all of us with his principled approach to the pursuit of justice in the criminal courts. The award is intended to recognize that excellence and encourage other attorneys to follow his example,” says, Hon. Michael Skwierawski, President-Elect of the MBA.

This year’s recipient, and the award’s namesake, Attorney E. Michael McCann will be honored at the MBA Annual Meeting, June 13, 2006 at the Italian Community Center, Milwaukee. This luncheon is the premiere event of the Milwaukee Bar’s Calendar and includes both and awards program and the swearing in of Board Members and Officers. The luncheon is traditionally attended by 300+ members of the Milwaukee legal community.
