Organizes Local Foundation During Deployment To Benefit Iraqi Children and Poor
Madison, WI (January 20, 2006) – Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is proud to announce that our partner, Matthew Storms who is currently serving overseas in Iraq, has recently been promoted to Major in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. When he is not deployed, Mr. Storms practices business and corporate law in Madison and he is a founding member of the firm’s Venture BestSM group.
Major Storms is the commander of HHC, 2nd Battalion, 127th Infantry out of Appleton, Wisconsin. His unit was mobilized on June 6, 2005 and left soon after for mobilization training at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. His unit subsequently deployed to the Middle East on August 20.
Since Major Storms arrived in Iraq, he established a non-profit entity, The Badger OIF Foundation, to benefit Iraqi children and poor in the area in which his unit is located. Jordan Hemaidan, also a partner at Michael Best and board member of Badger OIF Foundation, said that “this is a great way to demonstrate the goodwill that the average American has for the average Iraqi, and to contribute to the building of a peaceful and stable Iraq for the future.”
“In the spirit of the holidays, our Madison office organized a ‘Treats for Troops’ drive as a ‘Thank You’ to Major Storms and the many soldiers and their families for their selfless service,” says Dave Crass, Madison Office Managing Partner. The ‘Treats for Troops’ drive will benefit Major Storms’ Unit and other Units who have posted a list of needed supplies to www.anysoldiers.com.
