Madison, Wis., Sept. 15, 2006–Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) and the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 2304 reached a
tentative agreement Thursday night on a three-year contract. The contract
is for the period May 1, 2006, through April 30, 2009. About 260 electric
and gas operations, power plant and service employees are IBEW members.
Union members are expected to vote on the agreement next week.
In May, MGE reached agreement on a new contract with the Office and
Professional Employees International Union Local 39, which represents
office workers.
MGE generates and distributes electricity to nearly 136,000 customers in
Dane County and purchases and distributes natural gas to more than 137,000
customers in seven south-central and western Wisconsin counties. MGE has
served the Madison area since 1896.
