Madison, Wis., Sept. 21, 2006–Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) announces agreement on a three-year contract with IBEW Local 2304. Union members ratified the pact Thursday, Sept. 21. The contract is for the period May 1, 2006, through April 30, 2009. About 260 electric and gas operations, power plant and service employees are IBEW members.
MGE believes this is a fair contract that was developed through compromise and balances the needs of employees, the company and the community.
MGE generates and distributes electricity to nearly 136,000 customers in Dane County and purchases and distributes natural gas to more than 137,000 customers in seven south-central and western Wisconsin counties. MGE has served the Madison area since 1896.
