Local artisan food and beverage producers offer samples at first-ever Tasting event

A dozen regional food and beverage producers will be featured at a Tasting on Wednesday, August 16th, from 6 to 8 pm at The Fork and Spoon Cafe at RP’s Pasta Company, at 1133 East Wilson Street in Madison, WI. The press is invited to attend.

The Tasting is the first of its kind, and will kick off a series whose goal is to increase the amount of locally produced goods purchased by Wisconsinites.

Featured artisan producers include:

Renaissance Farm · RP’s Pasta Company · Crystal Infusion

Tomato Mountain · Fountain Prairie Farm · Farmer John

Gail Ambrosia · Furthermore Brewing · Harmony Valley

· Botham Vineyards · Willow Creek Farm · Fairfield Flowers

Menu items include: cold tomato soup with pesto goat cheese; focaccia with rosemary infused sea salt; four cheese tortellini primavera salad with lemon basil pesto vinaigrette; Berkshire pork shoulder braised with summer tomatoes; fresh mozzarella insalata caprese with tomatoes; baby greens with sweet basil vinaigrette; highland beef skirt steak with fresh fennel giardinera; chocolates; microbrews; wines.

This Tasting is the outgrowth of a Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin Working Group. Its mission is to create a mechanism to increase the awareness and sale of all the exceptional local products to Wisconsin residents. The group is made up of individuals from private business, trade organizations, the University, the State and regional Non-Profits.

The producers, retailers and restaurateurs who sell and use the products will be on hand to meet and answer questions.

The main premise behind the Tastings is that all three groups — producers, retailers and consumers — benefit by working together.

There are a very limited number of tickets available to the public. Most of the attendees will be members of the working group. Cost is $20 per person.

The Tasting is sponsored by Renaissance Farm, Inc, Crystal Infusion, llc and RP’s Pasta Company.
