Gov. Doyle: To Announce Technology Agreement with Major Pharmaceutical Company

Governor Jim Doyle will announce a significant licensing agreement with
a major, global pharmaceutical company for bio-technology research
conducted at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee tomorrow, Tuesday,
March 28, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. at the UW-Milwaukee Chemistry
Building.  The announcement marks an important milestone in
Milwaukee’s efforts to become a research powerhouse.

Governor Doyle will also present a grant to the Biomedical Technology
Alliance in Southeastern Wisconsin, a consortium of academic
institutions building connections between academic researchers and
industry.

Later in the day, at 7:30 p.m., Governor Doyle will address Wisconsin
Innovates, the Governor’s conference on statewide business innovation
and best practices at the Midwest Airlines Center in Milwaukee. 
Wisconsin Innovates is a two-day conference of breakthrough business
practices, discussed by more than 25 of the state’s top executives from
industry leaders like Miller Brewing, Harley-Davidson, Johnson
Controls, Northwestern Mutual, Trek Bicycle, and more.  Tom
Peters, business consultant and best-selling author will give the
keynote address.  Other speakers include Mary Burke, Secretary of
the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, and James Haney, president of the
Wisconsin Manufactures and Commerce.

Earlier in the day, at 12:15 p.m. Governor Doyle will participate in a
roundtable discussion on economic development with the Bay View
Manufacturers and Commerce Association.
