Milwaukee, Wisconsin (February 9, 2006). Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is pleased to announce that Timothy F. Nixon, a shareholder and lead attorney for the firm’s Business Finance and Restructuring Group, has been selected for the Wisconsin Law Journal’s “Leaders in the Law” award for leadership and education during the transition to the new bankruptcy laws. He will be honored at an awards dinner in Milwaukee on March 29, 2006.

Nixon’s practice includes advising, among others, Dutch, Russian, and Australian clients on American Bankruptcy Law as well as advising American clients on foreign insolvency issues and practice. He has represented clients in cases before the United States Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, as well as in bankruptcy courts throughout the United States. His cases have included some of the largest bankruptcies filed in the United States.

Nixon has been a frequent speaker on matters involving bankruptcy law, addressing the American Bankruptcy Institute, State Bar of Wisconsin, and the Seventh Circuit Bar Associations. He has been published extensively and has been an expert commentator on bankruptcy issues for newspaper, radio and television.

Nixon’s strong pro bono commitment includes representing Hurricane Katrina victims in filing bankruptcy. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, has served as the President and Vice President of the Western District Bankruptcy Bar, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Bankruptcy Insolvency and Creditors Rights Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin. In addition, he is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, teaching classes in law.

Nixon was recently selected for inclusion in the 2005 Wisconsin Super Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America® 2005-2006, and Who’s Who Legal USA – Insolvency & Restructuring 2006, based on nominations from his peers and additional research. According to Who’s Who, “lawyers featured in this publication can be considered to be experts in their specialist areas of insolvency and restructuring law.” In addition, Tim was selected by the Bay Business Journal as one of the “Fifty People You Should Know” in Green Bay.
