(Mequon, WI, August 28,2006) – The GemEx Hologram Diamond Viewer (HDV), a new, innovative in-store table mark viewer for diamond manufacturers and retail jewelers, has been developed by GemEx Systems, Mequon, WI. GemEx also developed a personal, pocket-sized version of the viewer, which can be sold for a nominal price to those who purchase diamonds from the retailers as well.

As early as 2000, precision marking of the table of the diamond was seen as the premier way to uniquely personalize a diamond. The technology marks the diamond with a clean, clear marking that is a hidden, secret message not easily visible with a jeweler’s loupe. Previous table mark viewers have been expensive and difficult to use. The new GemEx HDV solves these problems. It is inexpensive, easy to use and provides the consumer with a unique, fun way to identify and experience their diamond. With the GemEx HDV, the mark is not only visible, it is holographically revealed as a three dimensional image on the table of the diamond.

According to Randall Wagner, president of GemEx, both the larger in-store viewer and the personal viewer developed by his company allow a consumer to directly and easily see any marking on a diamond’s table. “Those marks are not easily seen through a jeweler 10x loupe,” he says. “And our viewers provide for a fun, ‘hands-on’ viewing experience for consumers. With the personal viewer, they can let friends and relatives read the table markings of the diamond they purchase. Before the development of our viewer, customers had to view table marks indirectly through an in-store monitor.

“Many diamonds, including DTC Forevermark diamonds, have table marking. In addition to the HDV, GemEx now offers table marking. GemEx can help manufacturers and retail jewelers to engrave the diamond’s certificate number, their company logos, or a customer’s personalized message or picture on the diamond’s table,” says Wagner.

“Marking a diamond’s table is quickly gaining acceptance as the best way to identify diamonds for sophisticated buyers,” he explains.
