Food Fight, Inc.: Contemporary Food Meets Contemporary Art

For Immediate Release
March 14, 2006

Food Fight, Inc. and the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) will team up to open a new restaurant in downtown Madison.

Fresco (Italian for “fresh”) will feature contemporary American cuisine and boast picturesque views of downtown Madison. Local, seasonal ingredients will be the chef’s muse, allowing diners to experience fresh flavors at their peak. Fresco will be located in the rooftop of the new MMoCA, part of Overture Center for the Arts. Patrons will dine alongside a glass wall overseeing the museum’s 7,100-square-foot sculpture garden, or may sit at the garden’s edge and enjoy their meal al fresco.

With an exquisite menu and beautiful atmosphere, Fresco blurs the line between art forms, creating a truly unique dining experience. “The space has a sophistication unique to this area,” says Food Fight’s president Monty Schiro. “I love art and I love food. MMoCA has created a world where the two co-exist in a way Madison has never seen before.”

MMoCA director Stephen Fleischman says that Food Fight will offer an exceptional restaurant, as well as excellent catering for special events within the museum. “MMoCA will be an important community gathering space, and food service will play a key role in shaping the visitors’ experience.”

Fresco and the catered events will be overseen by Rick Duarte, general manager of Johnny Delmonico’s and Ocean Grill. On-site management will be provided by Caitlin Suemnicht.
