Dept. of Commerce: Secretary Burke Announces Appointment Of Dairy 2020 Director

MADISON-Department of Commerce (Commerce) Secretary Mary P. Burke today announced that Irv Possin has been appointed as executive director of the Dairy 2020 Program.

“Irv Possin has more than 30 years of experience offering customized technical assistance to dairy producers on a wide variety of topics,” Secretary Burke said. “He will be an asset to our economic development team as we work to grow the dairy industry in Wisconsin.

From 1985-present, Possin was dairy/livestock agent for the UW-Extension, Fond du Lac County. For the previous ten years he served as UW-Extension agriculture in Eau Claire County and farm management agent in Chippewa County. He has provided technical assistance and consulting in areas such as animal nutrition and health, genetics, financial analysis, labor, and agricultural policy. He earned a BS in Animal Science from UW River Falls and an MS in Animal Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
