MADISON-Fast-growing Wisconsin businesses may now apply for selection to Inc. magazine’s 2006 list of the fastest-growing private companies, Department of Commerce Secretary Mary P. Burke announced today.

“Through Gov. Jim Doyle’s leadership, Wisconsin has become a good place to start and grow a business, and I want to make sure state firms take this opportunity to celebrate their success,” Secretary Burke said. “Inc.’s annual listing of America’s 500 fastest-growing privately held companies is widely regarded as the most prestigious indicator of growth among independent companies in the U.S.”

Application deadline is Jan. 15, 2006. A preliminary qualification form is available at www.inc.com. In late January and February, Inc. staff will contact the companies that have a chance at making the list and ask them to fill out a more detailed application.

Independent, privately-held companies based in the U.S. with four full years of operating history are invited to apply. Companies must provide their revenue figures for 2002, 2003, 2004, and an estimate for 2005 to qualify for consideration. They can do that via the online preliminary application reachable via the www.inc.com front page. The Inc. 500 issue scheduled for next summer, and the selected companies will be featured guests at the 2006 Inc. 500 conference.

The Inc. 500 boasts an impressive roster of alumni across all sectors: Microsoft, Domino’s Pizza, Timberland, and E*Trade, to name just a few.
