Dept. of Commerce: 25th Annual Governor’s Conference On Minority Business Development Offers Sales Opportunities For Minority-Owned Firms

MADISON – Minority-owned businesses seeking expanded opportunities and purchasing agents looking for quality minority vendors will want to attend the 25th annual Governor’s Conference on Minority Business Development: Marketplace 2006. The event will be held September 13 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Hilton Hotel in Milwaukee ‘s Civic Center .

“Governor Jim Doyle’s Grow Wisconsin plan calls for expanding the economic opportunities for minority-owned businesses,” said Department of Commerce (Commerce) Secretary Mary P. Burke. “Marketplace provides minority businesses with an excellent opportunity to meet customers and potential financial partners.”

The conference will include an awards luncheon, workshops, panel discussions, networking forums, and more. Featured speakers include Governor Jim Doyle (invited) and Glenn Henderson, co-founder and CEO of AFC Worldwide Express, Atlanta , GA. After demonstrating a successful track record as an entrepreneur, Henderson co-founded AFC Worldwide Express, Inc. in 1987. Under his leadership the company has been recognized as Vendor of the Year by Hallmark Cards, Inc. for 1993 and 1994 as well as being designated as an approved vendor for the Summer Olympics.

Banks, venture capitalists and other service providers will also be on hand to provide assistance on an as-needed basis.
