On Demand Solution for Cuyahoga Falls Brings eGovernment Services to Residents

Madison, WI, March 1, 2006 – Berbee Information Networks Corp. (Berbee), a leading Midwest provider of technology and data center solutions, has been named winner of the “Best IBM iSeries On Demand Solution” award in the annual IBM PartnerWorld Beacon Awards competition, honoring IBM Business Partners for their innovation, customer satisfaction and outstanding achievements in providing on demand business solutions.

Berbee implemented a flexible, low cost e-government Web portal for the City of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. The portal allows residents to conduct business with the city online for a wide variety of services.

Upgrading an iSeries 820 system to a new i5 550 server allowed Berbee to partition the server to run Linux and WebSphere based applications, as well as manage several integrated xSeries eServers (IXS) which enabled critical portal functions.

The solution provides On Demand computing by allowing processors to be turned on during peak periods. By simplifying its IT environment and moving fundamental services online, the city significantly cut administrative costs and freed up resources to invest in additional programs for its 50,000 residents.

“Judges selected Berbee Information Networks as the winner in this category based on its ability to deliver cutting edge innovative value to customers while working closely with IBM to both benchmark and extend those solutions and technologies,” said Donn Atkins, General Manager, IBM Global Business Partners. “Berbee Information Networks is combining technology expertise with business insight to help their clients innovate on important business issues and realize real efficiencies.”

“We are honored to be named IBM’s 2006 winner of the ‘Best IBM iSeries On Demand Solution’,” said Paul Shain, chief executive officer of Berbee. “Our Systems and Storage Practice is a vital part of our business and we continue to invest in the engineering resources and infrastructure to support its growth.”
