THE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD OF SOUTH CENTRAL WISCONSIN WILL PRESENT DANE COUNTY EXECUTIVE KATHLEEN FALK WITH ITS ANNUAL “MADE A DIFFERENCE AWARD” FOR HER WORK WITH THE “EARLY CHILDHOOD INITIATIVE” AT ITS ANNUAL MEETING BEING HELD ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 13 FROM 11 AM TO 1 PM AT THE MONONA TERRACE COMMUNITY AND CONVENTION CENTER.

The Early Childhood Initiative coordinates efforts to help families with young children improve parenting skills, find housing, get mental and physical health care, and land jobs. Kathleen has worked to craft a vision of a comprehensive service approach to new families that she hopes will serve as a model to other communities. She offers to serve as a reference on some parents’ resumes and will call employers to urge them to take a chance on applicants with shaky job histories or criminal backgrounds.

The Workforce Development Board is a nonprofit organization that collaborates with employers and employees in Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Jefferson, Sauk and Marquette counties to promote a healthy economy. The Board continually seeks innovative solutions to the economic challenges that face today’s workforce. WDB convenes annually it members, workforce development partners and community leaders to celebrate the results of the Board’s works and unique partnerships.
