Facing complex issues, not-for-profits benefit from multi-disciplinary legal
counsel

MILWAUKEE (July 7, 2005) The creation of a special tax-exempt practice
area at Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. means tax-exempt organizations can
now benefit from a multi-disciplinary approach to increasingly complex legal
issues.

“Tax-exempt organizations are extremely diverse and highly regulated entities
with intricate legal needs,” said Saul Winsten, a shareholder with Whyte
Hirshboeck Dudek and head of the tax-exempt practice area. “Regulations
affecting tax-exempt organizations are constantly changing. As a result, not-
for-profits are better served by a legal team focusing on all of the legal
aspects affecting the organization’s legal structures and its activities.
Meeting the requirements for tax-exempt status is no longer sufficient. The
institutions we are seeing today require effective counsel in many areas of
both the law and government affairs.”

In addition to experts in tax-exempt organizations, the new practice area
draws on experts in intellectual property (IP), information technology (IT),
business and corporate law, tax law, health care, estate planning, public
finance and government affairs. Attorneys and government affairs experts
from the firm’s Milwaukee and Madison offices are involved.

“This is a client-driven response to a need from a highly regulated and
important segment of Wisconsin’s economy,” said Michael Klinker, Vice
President, Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek. “We understand our not-for-profit
clients want legal work of high quality that is on time and in budget. By
organizing a practice group specifically focused on tax-exempt issues, we are
better positioned to deliver to their diverse needs.”

For more than 60 years, Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. has played a leading
role in shaping the political, economic and legal landscapes in Wisconsin
guiding their clients to successful outcomes. The firm, with offices in
Milwaukee, Madison and Manitowoc, has over 140 attorneys and paralegals
practicing over 30 areas of law.
