UW System: Finalists named in UW-Whitewater chancellor search

MADISON – University of Wisconsin System President Kevin P. Reilly today announced the finalists for the position of chancellor at UW-Whitewater.

The finalists’ names have been forwarded to the Board of Regents’ Special Committee for the UW-Whitewater Chancellor Search, chaired by Regent Roger Axtell of Janesville. The Regents’ committee will interview the finalists in Madison on Wednesday, May 18. Other members of this special committee are Regents Peggy Rosenzweig of Wauwatosa, Milton McPike of Mazomanie, and Brent Smith of La Crosse.

The full Board of Regents will take final action once it receives a recommendation from the Special Committee, and President Reilly.
The finalists, their titles and current institutions are as follows:

Northern State University, Aberdeen, S.D.

· Timothy J. Flanagan
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Professor of Criminal Justice
State University of New York, College at Brockport

· Lois Muir
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
University of Montana (Missoula)

· Martha Dunagin Saunders
Vice President for Academic Affairs
Columbus State University, University System of Georgia

· Richard Telfer
Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater

A 17-member campus/community search and screen committee, chaired by Jimmy Peltier, Arno Kleimenhagen Professor of Marketing at UW-Whitewater, submitted the recommendations of these five finalists to the Special Regent Committee and the President. The individual chosen by the regents will become UW-Whitewater’s 14th chancellor, succeeding Jack Miller, who has accepted the presidency of Central Connecticut State University.
