Camera Phones Allow Photos, Memories to be Shared with Family, Friends Back Home
MILWAUKEE, Wis., Aug. 4, 2005 – Sharing great summer vacation moments should not have to wait until travelers get home. Instead of sending postcards, which often arrive after the vacation is over, create instant postcards using a camera phone.
“We all love taking photos when we’re on vacation,” said Lou Brazzoni, U.S. Cellular director of sales for Wisconsin. “When you take photos with your camera phone, you can instantly share those photos in a number of ways.”
Summer vacationers who return home before their sent postcards arrive can immediately share their snapshots with family members and friends thanks to the convenience of camera phones. Using a cell phone – something most travelers already carry – consumers can take photos of favorite vacation destinations.
Picture messaging has become one of the most colorful ways to communicate. Photos taken on a camera phone can be sent to wireless users with just a few keystrokes. Picture messages can be accompanied with a “Wish you were here!” text message or audio recording.
“Vacationers can send picture messages for each photo they take during the day,” Brazzoni said. “Or, they can save those photos and send them from their hotel rooms.”
U.S. Cellular offers its customers the versatility to send picture messages to any e-mail address. Photos also can be uploaded from a cell phone to an online album, where anyone with a computer and an Internet connection can view them.
“A picture adds entertainment, information and fun to your message,” Brazzoni said.
