MADISON, Wis. – Physicians Insurance Company of Wisconsin (PIC WISCONSIN) today announced that Richard Walter has been promoted to assistant vice president, and will serve as the company’s strategic business unit leader for third-party administration. Prior to his promotion, Walter served as PIC WISCONSIN’s director of claims for the classic and health care facilities strategic business units.

“We are pleased to announce Richard’s promotion,” said Bill Montei, president and CEO of PIC WISCONSIN. “He is a very dedicated and determined individual who has helped PIC WISCONSIN grow into what it is today, and we know that he will continue to be an asset for the organization and our customers in his new role.”

Walter has more than 25 years of experience in the management of physician and hospital medical malpractice claims. Prior to joining PIC WISCONSIN in 2000, Walter served as an insurance industry consultant and also held positions with two physician-governed carriers on the East coast.

Walter earned his bachelor’s degree from Long Island University. He is a resident of Madison.

PIC WISCONSIN, which is currently doing business in eight states, was founded in Wisconsin nearly two decades ago to improve the availability of insurance and to stabilize premium costs in Wisconsin.
