MADISON, Wis. – Physicians Insurance Company of
Wisconsin (PIC WISCONSIN) today announced that it
has received approval from the Kansas Department
of Insurance to write hospital professional
liability business in the state.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to enter
the Kansas marketplace and be able to develop a
business relationship with the Kansas Hospital
Association and its member hospitals,” said
Christopher Brady, PIC WISCONSIN’s senior vice
president. “We look forward to working with the
Kansas Hospital Association as their preferred
provider for their members.”

PIC WISCONSIN was initially approached by the
Kansas Health Service Corporation, a subsidiary of
the Kansas Hospital Association (KHA), in the fall
of 2004 when the organization was looking for a
carrier with expertise in the hospital market.
The KHSC’s main objective is to provide its member
hospitals with quality insurance products and
services that are competitively priced and
relevant for the hospital environment, while
keeping the needs and welfare of the hospital as
its primary concern.

According to Brady, it is a good business
opportunity for PIC WISCONSIN to expand its reach
into Kansas and help local community hospitals
with their insurance needs.

PIC WISCONSIN is one of the country’s premier
writers of medical professional liability
insurance, providing insurance products and risk
management services to physicians, dentists,
hospitals (including allied health care providers)
and integrated health care networks. PIC
WISCONSIN, which is currently doing business in
Wisconsin and eight other states, was founded in
Wisconsin nearly two decades ago to improve the
availability of insurance and to stabilize premium
costs in Wisconsin.
