Chicago, Il – March 11, 2005 – Neohapsis, a leading information security and forensics consultancy, announced today that Dave Stampley has assumed the role of General Counsel and Compliance Specialist. Previously, he was Senior Corporate Counsel and Director of Privacy at Reynolds and Reynolds, a provider of turnkey retailing technology solutions located in Dayton, Ohio.

Stampley is perhaps best known for his work as an Assistant Attorney General in the office of New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, where he led landmark e-commerce enforcement actions such as DoubleClick, Ziff Davis Media, the Eli Lilly prozac.com email breach, and the Netscape Smartdownload spyware case.

“When it comes to a proactive privacy and security compliance program, it’s best to work with someone who helped write the playbook,” notes E. Kelly Hansen, CEO of Neohapsis. “Public corporations and other large B2C enterprises face intense scrutiny under GLBA, and Sarbanes-Oxley, and state consumer protection laws. Dave merges enforcement, corporate, and technology experience to help organizations successfully leverage their IT resources, whether they’re building out a compliance program or responding to a discovery demand.”

Dave has previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan D.A.’s office, where his numerous trials included the successful prosecution of the “Manhattan Subway Bomber.” He has been in private litigation and technology practice in Manhattan, received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and is a former business computer applications analyst.

In addition to his legal background, Stampley is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, a faculty member of the Institute for Applied Network Security, and a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
