Milwaukee, WI (May 6, 2005) – Hal Karas, a partner with Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, has been appointed chair of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin for a term ending in 2006.

Mr. Karas concentrates his practice on negotiation and documentation of development, planned community and commercial real estate transactions, land use entitlements, lending transactions, and workouts. He has represented developers of multi-use projects and has been lead counsel in the creation of thousands of residential condominium units. He has represented local banks and borrowers and national institutional lenders in situations from large unsecured private placements to highly leveraged transactions and securitizations. He has been involved with the development or sale of office buildings, multi-family residential complexes, subdivisions and golf courses.
