Leann Rodgers of Lakes Area Rental, Elkhorn, WI, and a team of American Rental Association (ARA) members conducted more than 130 key meetings with their elected representatives in the U.S. Senate and House on high-priority rental industry issues on Capitol Hill in April.
The legislative caucus, an annual ARA event, brought 55 ARA members from 26 states together for an intense and successful session of advocacy April 12-14.
“It is so vital to have ARA members interface with their elected Representatives and Senators in Washington, D.C. They can personally share how important rental issues impact their business, their family and their community,” said Christine Wehrman, ARA executive vice president and CEO. “There is no substitute for these grassroots efforts to effectively communicate on behalf of our industry.”
ARA members, comprised of rental business owners from throughout the United States, held more than 130 meetings on the Hill about these key industry issues: Federal taxes, Association health plans, Surge brakes, Litigation reform and Transportation funding reauthorization.
ARA’s Vice President of Government Affairs, John McClelland, and the ARA Government Affairs Committee engineered the caucus that included distinguished guest speakers Barry Jackson, deputy assistant to President George W. Bush, Rep. Anne Northup (R-3rd KY), and Greg Casey, president/CEO of the Business & Industry Political Action Committee.
The American Rental Association (ARA), an international nonprofit association founded in 1955, comprises more than 7,500 owners of equipment rental businesses and 1,100 manufacturers and suppliers of rental equipment.
