(Madison) A fund-raising concert to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina will be held Sunday, September 25th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Club Majestic (115 King Street, Madison, WI).

Plans are still being made, but currently scheduled to appear are Kelly De Haven, Dave Cooper, Hanah Jon Taylor, Ben Sidran, Geri DiMaggio, Jan Wheaton, Lynette Marguilis, and Tony Castaneda Latin Jazz. Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz will give opening remarks.

The Krewe of Madison, Madison’s own New Orleans-style carnival club, is sponsoring the event. Members of the Krewe visit Mardi Gras in New Orleans each year and are best known locally for the beads they throw in Madison’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Scott Thornton, speaking for the Krewe of Madison, expressed his gratitude to Kelly De Haven for her help in getting local musicians to donate their talent. “The concert wouldn’t be happening without Kelly’s hard work. She has brought our idea to a reality.”

The price of admission is a donation made to either the American Red Cross Southeast Louisiana Chapter or America’s Second Harvest. (The suggested contribution is $25.) All proceeds will go directly to these two organizations.

“It should really be a great opportunity for those who love New Orleans, love jazz and want to do something to help the people impacted by this disaster.” More information about his event is available on the Krewe of Madison website: http://www.kreweofmadison.org.
