IMS: Recognized by Chicago B-to-B Community Receives Tower Award for Web Application Development Work

MADISON, WI (September 29, 2005) – IMS announces it recently received a 2005 Tower Award from the Business Marketing Association of Chicago for its application development work on the corporate Web site of AdvanceTranformer.com. The Tower Awards are Chicago’s premier Business-to-Business marketing and communications competition.

“As application developers we strive to integrate business goals with functionality and design, creating highly successful business solutions that meet our client’s needs,” said IMS Chief Executive Officer, Mark Clear. “IMS is honored to receive this type of recognition from the Business Marketing Association and the B-to-B community in Chicago.”

The 2005 Silver Tower Award winner competed in the category of Web sites with a budget greater than $50,000.

Project Background:
In anticipation of its 60th Anniversary in 2005, Advance, a division of Philips Electronics North America Corporation, wanted to update the look and capabilities of its corporate Web site. As the leading manufacturer of ballasts and drivers for fluorescent, HID, and LED lamps in North America, Advance wanted to develop a portal site which strengthened its brand image and provided user-centric content to its various demographic groups, which include Distributors, OEMs, Contractors, and Partners.

During the planning stage, IMS partnered with Chicago design firm Shortwave to conduct a requirements analysis and write a functional specification for development. From the beginning, project management was a crucial part of the solution due to the complexities and size of the project. Weekly update meetings allowed all stakeholders to remain informed and on task.

Throughout, IMS was responsible for functionality recommendations and all code development on the new custom Web application, including a content management system (CMS). To organize dense amounts of data, IMS also designed a sophisticated database scheme with more than 130 database tables and over 20,000 lines of code.
