Readers of Successful Magazine Choose Best Hotels & Resorts for Meetings

MADISON, Wis. (September 22, 2005) – Comfortable rooms, thoughtful amenities and attentive service are what the readers of Successful Meetings Magazine said makes the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace one of the best Midwest hotels for meetings and conventions. Hilton Madison Monona Terrace recently received their first-ever Pinnacle Award, the symbol of excellence among meeting planners and hoteliers now in its 21st year.

In January, Successful Meetings Magazine readers – over 72,000 corporate and association meeting/travel buyers – had the opportunity to cast votes and select those outstanding hotels and resorts that measured up to their high standards of excellence. Planners were asked to make selections based upon the following criteria:

Quality and expertise of conference services
Quality, design and condition of meeting rooms and equipment
Quality of guest rooms and in-room business services
Quality and variety of recreational activities
Quality of food and beverage, menu choices and service
Availability and design of exhibit space if needed
Hotel business services
Technical capabilities

The award-winning Successful Meetings Magazine has long been respected for its industry innovation and authoritative discussion of meeting, special event, incentive, convention and trade show planning and execution. Readers are corporate/sales/marketing executives who plan meetings, full-time meeting professionals and event planners, trade show directors, and association executives who are involved with planning conventions and meetings. The Hilton Madison Monona Terrace, owned and managed by Marcus Corporation, opened in February 2001. The 14-story, 240-room hotel is adjacent to the Monona Terrace Convention Center and offers meeting facilities, luxurious rooms and suites, and a private concierge floor designed to accommodate business travelers. Also sitting adjacent to the Hilton is the Capitol Chophouse – an upscale, American-style restaurant located in the historic former chancery building of the Catholic Diocese of Madison. Their extensive wine list has earned them Wine Spectator’s “Award of Excellence.”
