MADISON, WI (June 9, 2005). The law firm of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. has announced the addition of Douglas M. Poland as a shareholder in its Litigation Practice Group in the Madison office, LaFollette Godfrey & Kahn.

Poland’s practice focuses on the defense of complex class-action and commercial matters, with particular emphasis on product liability, toxic tort, and consumer-fraud lawsuits. He has represented clients ranging from individuals and small partnerships to Fortune 50 corporations in complex litigation at the trial-court and appellate levels. Poland joins a team of more than
40 litigation attorneys at Godfrey & Kahn that have a proven track record of successfully representing their clients in class-action and complex litigation matters not only in state and federal courts in Wisconsin but throughout the country.

Before joining the firm, Poland was a partner in the Litigation Practice Group at the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he practiced for 10 years.

Poland received his law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude and was the Lead Articles Editor of the Loyola Law Journal. He graduated with honors from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in history.

Poland is a member of the State Bars of Wisconsin and Illinois and is admitted to practice in those states as well as in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, Northern District of Illinois, Eastern District of Michigan, and District of Colorado.
