Milwaukee, Wisconsin (August 8, 2005)…The law firm of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is pleased to announce the addition of Kelly Klick Smitsdorff to the Labor & Employment Law Practice in its Milwaukee office. She offers clients a unique business perspective based on her 10 years of experience as a human resources professional, providing human resources consultation in health care, financial services and manufacturing environments.
Klick Smitsdorff’s practice focuses on counseling employers on all aspects of employment law, including harassment, disability, family and medical leave, wage and hour law, unemployment compensation, workplace policies, and discipline and termination. She has handled the investigation and defense of employment discrimination and labor disputes at the federal, state and administrative agency levels. Her experience includes litigating claims of harassment, discrimination and retaliation under the ADA, ADEA, FMLA, NLRA and Title VII. In addition, she regularly assists employers with preventative measures such as employment policies, handbooks, employment agreements, supervisory training and human resource audits.
A Wisconsin native, Klick Smitsdorff received her law degree from Marquette University Law School; her master’s degree in human resource management, with distinction, from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management; and her undergraduate degree in English and communication, magna cum laude, from Carroll College.
Klick Smitsdorff is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association, and is admitted to practice before the Wisconsin Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. She is also a member of the Human Resource Management Association of Southeastern Wisconsin.
